STEP 1: Enabling Signatures on your account
In order to see your own signature (and also the signatures of others), you need to enable a setting in your profile section:
- Click your avatar at the top of the screen, and then click on “preferences”:
-
In the preferences screen, select “profile”:
-
Scroll to the bottom of the profile page, and check the box for “See user signatures below posts”:
STEP 2: Creating your signature image
Your signature image will look best on both desktop AND mobile devices if you design in a ratio of 5:1 (as in 5 wide, 1 tall, e.g. 1500px wide * 300px tall).
Rules for signature content:
- No information regarding the sale of anything (paid sponsors: you have an entire section for this).
- No porn (remember, sigs don’t stay in the adult section).
- Make it awesome!
STEP 3: Uploading your signature image to the internet
Your image can exist anywhere on the internet. Some fan favorites are IMGUR and IMGBB.
If you use one of these services to host your banner though, be careful! Don’t link to the website itself, link to the IMAGE inside the website only. You can usually get the direct image link by right-clicking the image, and selecting copy image link:
STEP 4: Adding a Signature image to your account
The text box for signature in your account only supports LINKS to images (no text or other content). Links usually begin with https://
and end with .jpg
…if what you pasted in does not end with an image file extension (jpg, gif, png), your signature will not display correctly.
